Many of you will be familiar with STRAVA, the social network aimed partly at cyclists, but not exclusively! It's a great tool for creating a community, which is why we decided to create the Strava Golden Cycles Club.
There was a time when Maxime lent himself to the game of social networking. Activating his Garmin computer at the start of every race was a ritual. No matter what result he achieved, once the race or stage was over, his competitive soul would compel him to review his segments in search of the KOMs he'd obtained. Fortunately (or not!), one thing led to another, and he set aside his Garmin counter and, at the same time, his STRAVA account. It was a bit of a source of pride, even if that's an overstatement. It was still a game he played with his peloton buddies. Today, he doesn't have the same time to devote to cycling, so he watches his KOM heritage unravel...
As for Jérémy, he was never really a groupie of all these applications. He preferred to grind or power over the bumps without chasing KOMs. And that didn't stop him from winning races and even taking home bouquets.
But it was undeniable that STRAVA would become or become again their partner, especially after having lived several times the following scenarios:
- A customer's moustache twitches with pleasure at a succinct notoriety, because someone he happens to meet in the store tells him he knows him through STRAVA and admires the number of KOMs he has in the region.
- A private message from a customer to Maxime because he gave him 5 seconds on a section.
And so, just over three months ago, they launched their Club Golden Cycles with the help of Greg (Grégoire Tarride) . The aim is to bring together those who like to discover new routes, ride for great legs, or simply meet new cyclists who share the same values and with whom to swap nice places over a coffee break.
In fact, the same customers mentioned above are now members of the Golden Cycles club - why shouldn't you be?
